Season IX: Jill Hammond + Joey Baxter, owners, Farm & Harvest + The Howdy, Los Osos, CA

 

Jill Hammond and Joey Baxter have both worked in food a long time, but in very different capacities. Jill owns Farm & Harvest, a little company that makes cheese boards for events and wine tasting on the Central Coast. Joey has worked in restaurants like Del’s in Pismo Beach and Ember in Arroyo Grande, as well as cafes, wine tasting rooms, and even kombucha companies. But I mostly invited Jill and Joey onto the podcast because they’re people who can dive deep into personal conversation un-self-consciously, which is a quality I love. I just knew they’d be good to talk to and even better to listen to. They discuss their lives, their work, and their ideas with me — one of which happens to include a no-nonsense hot dog and punk music cafe called The Howdy.
